If you travel within Europe for work, you know the rule by now: if your destination can be reached by train within eight hours, UAntwerp asks you to avoid flying. But even for cities further afield, the train is often worthwhile – especially if you opt for a night train. Researchers Katrien Danhieux (Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences) and Kathleen Andries (Faculty of Business and Economics) demonstrated just that last spring on their trip to Budapest. They share their insights on sustainable travel, practical tips and the comfort of a moving hotel room.

The Diversity & Inclusion Team organised focus groups to explore the experiences of colleagues with disabilities. Those with invisible disabilities, such as autism, ADHD, or chronic illnesses, often hesitate to speak up, fearing misunderstanding or lack of change. The discussions highlighted a strong need for role models, a safe environment, and clear information about available support. Flexibility in work arrangements and practical adjustments were also seen as essential. Two colleagues share their experiences here.

In mid-October, the Conservation-Restoration programme hosted IAQ2020, a virtual conference on indoor air quality. The fourteenth edition of the conference, IAQ2020 welcomed participants from all over the world and was organised completely differently from previous years. The five-day online event was put together by four colleagues in the Faculty of Design Sciences.
