On Thursday 24 November 2022, we organised our annual information evening for prospective students and their parents. The central theme was ‘Do I choose university, or do I choose college?. We immersed them into all the aspects involved when making that choice.
Our annual staff party Unifiesta finally took place again on 19 May 2022, three years after the previous edition. The sun, musical colleagues, go-karts, good food and drinks made it a fantastic edition. We made a summary of the highlights for you.
After 28 days of collecting exercise minutes, the March 2022 edition of the Keep Moving Challenge is over. 382 participants gave the best of themselves to walk, cycle or hike a little bit extra every week.
What started off as just an idea by two staff members who wanted to ‘do something coronaproof’ with their colleagues has turned into a full-fledged exhibition with no fewer than 41 works of art. You can visit The Arty Farty Library in the Stadscampus library until 15 April.
The Campus Groenenborger library is more than just a library. Of course, you will find everything you would expect at a library: books, quiet study spots, computers, places for group work, etc. But there is much more. How about 3D printing, laser cutting or vinyl cutting? All of this is possible in BibLab, a small makers’ lab.
Whereas 1 September 2021 is the first day of school for many children in primary and secondary education, it is also the day on which new or re-elected faculty members started their three-year term of office. Some faculties have elected a new dean and vice deans, while others continue with the current ones. We give you an overview of the complete Executive Committees.
What do you do when you can’t organise a ‘proper’ staff party? Make radio! On Thursday 20 May, we presented Radio Unifiesta to provide an afternoon filled with background entertainment for the offices (and home offices) of UAntwerp staff. The show was full of music, original advertisements, quizzes and stories, along with messages from, for and by colleagues.
He, him, she, her, they, them… How should you address people? Are you 100% sure of their gender identity? In light of this year’s International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) on 17 May, UAntwerp is focusing on gender-aware and gender-inclusive communication. Get started with it today, and actively contribute to a more inclusive society.
Behind Campus Groenenborger lies a beautiful piece of nature, where the university created a community garden last year. This garden brings UAntwerp students and lecturers in contact with the elderly residents of an assisted-living facility and the children of a kindergarten nearby. Delicious herbs, fruit, vegetables, young trees, beautiful flowers… the garden has been in full bloom for a year now and is constantly expanding.
Working from home has been the ‘new normal’ for over a year now, and that isn’t likely to change any time soon. So take a moment to check that you’re sitting comfortably at your desk, and make sure you’re spending your days in a productive and healthy way. Together with Mensura we’ll point you in the direction of the perfect home office in eight simple steps.
The Keep Moving Challenge has ended. Throughout the month of March, 866 participants – UAntwerp staff and students – did a lot of extra walking, running and cycling, registering the minutes they were physically active. They ultimately raised 4550 euros for the fund for students in financial need.
With just one and a half weeks to go, 150 teams have already reached the final goal of the Keep Moving Challenge. That means our university will donate at least 150 times 20 euros (3000 euros!) to the fund for students in financial need. But what exactly does this fund do?
