Every year, we look forward to Unifiesta, the UAntwerp staff party. This year’s edition – the seventh one – didn’t disappoint. With more than 1800 enthusiastic employees, it was a lively party full of music, socialising and tradition — a true celebration of who we are as a university: connected, open and full of energy.

This year’s Antwerp 10 Miles was more popular than ever: all tickets sold out in less than two days. Thanks to a collaboration with Golazo, UAntwerpen secured 625 tickets exclusively for AUHA students — and these were snapped up even before the regular sale began.
In a few months, 11000 students in Antwerp will graduate, a milestone and the start of a new chapter. To help them prepare, AUHA hosted the first edition of Moving Forward on 26 February at Antwerp Expo. More than just a job fair, it became a hub for talent, employers, and entrepreneurship. Over 3000 students attended this successful launch.
This year, Building K on Stadscampus was the backdrop for our New Year’s reception. More than 800 colleagues raised their glass to a splendid 2025.

Whether it’s a city tour, chocolate workshop or introduction to axe throwing, the activities organised by MONDO always fill up quickly. The idea behind the network is to bring international students, researchers and staff members together in an informal setting. After five years, the initiative is still going strong.
Herwig Leirs officially started his term as UAntwerp’s fourth rector on September 1st. In this task, he will be assisted by a passionate team of four vice-rectors. Even though they are all well-known both in and outside UAntwerp, we would like to officially introduce them at the start of their term in office.

Every year, more and more colleagues make their way to Unifiesta, with this year as many as 1,500 employees attending. Together we enjoyed some delicious bites and drinks from the food trucks. But the highlight of the evening played out on and in front of the stage.

Building Q of Campus Drie Eiken was the setting for our New Year’s reception this year. Almost a thousand of us raised our glasses to what 2024 will bring, while 20 highlights from 20 years of the University of Antwerp were displayed.
House sparrows, black redstarts, swifts and bats can once again find their way to Stadscampus. In collaboration with the Infrastructure Department, the UAntwerp Climate Team and Natuurpunt, first-year architecture students have developed a whole host of animal houses with the aim of boosting biodiversity on campus.
