Design is about more than shiny lifestyle products or aesthetic objects. Design is essentially a way of thinking, a methodical approach to solving complex problems. This is the point of departure for the new postgraduate programme Leading Change by Design, developed by UAntwerp in cooperation with a network of experts. It’s a transdisciplinary programme that prepares students and professionals to take an active role in social transitions through design.
More and more students are facing financial difficulties. That’s why our university launched the ‘Students in Need’ initiative – to ensure that financial worries never become a barrier to earning a degree. Every year, the project provides a much-needed financial boost to numerous students. “For me, it made a world of difference,” says master’s student Rafal Mahan.
Antwerp Summer & Winter University (ASWU) is celebrating its fifteenth anniversary. We talked to initiator and Head of International Relations Sara Bervoets and with two driving forces from the very beginning, Professor Annick Schramme (Responsible Fashion Management) and Professor Pierre Van Damme (Vaccinology), about the significance of ASWU for the participants and for our university.
The Master of Safety Sciences can blow out ten candles this academic year. Besides being one of the youngest master programmes at the University of Antwerp, it is also a unique, multidisciplinary study programme in Flanders, according to lawyer Kelly Reyniers, sociologist Anne Bergmans and safety expert Karolien van Nunen.
The first English-language bachelor programme at our university has started: the ‘Social-Economic Sciences’ (SES) study programme, a broad programme with an international focus, attracted some forty Flemish and international students.
