On Friday 13 January, for the first time since 2020, UAntwerp’s New Year’s reception took place in-person. More than a thousand employees gathered in and around the Rector Dhanis lecture hall to festively toast to 2023.
As per tradition, Rector Herman Van Goethem addressed all employees and outlined some plans at the New Year’s Reception. Presenter Tom De Cock spoke with the rector about the university’s financial situation and how to continue building a sustainable future.
Together with faculty directors Tinne Borremans (Faculty of Business and Economics) and Virginie Coucke (Faculty of Arts), we looked back at the fire on Stadscampus last summer, and Pierre Van Damme outlined future plans for Vaccinopolis – our new building for vaccine studies. Our recently retired staff were given a special mention to say thanks for their years of commitment to our university.
Warm wishes for each other
When you registered for the New Year’s reception, you could also leave a warm wish for your colleagues. And you all did so. Take a look at all the warm wishes in the following video.
