PhD in 1 minute: Danny Sandra

Danny Sandra obtained his PhD at the Faculty of Business and Economics (UAntwerp). In one minute, he explains why entrainment is relevant for organisations and how the model of spiritual leadership can influence this process.

Entrainment

The word entrainment comes from the french verb ‘entrainer’. It is used to emphasis the importance of time, pace and rhythm and business cycle in organisations.

Entrainment is relevant for organisations because it positively influences organisational outcomes and entrainment can explain organisational phenomena that certain theories cannot sufficiently explain.

Model of spiritual leadership

The model of spiritual leadership can influence this process of entrainment. The model entails two things:

    • Having moments of reflection or stillness (for example yoga, meditation, mindfulness)
    • Making sure that our actions are coherent who we really are, with our values and believes.

By doing so, we can not only perform better personally and in teams, but we also find more meaning and appreciation in our work.
