Hoe spreek jij mensen aan? Ben je wel 100% zeker van iemands genderidentiteit? In het kader van IDAHOT, de Internationale Dag tegen Holebifobie en Transfobie op 17 mei, focuste UAntwerpen dit jaar op genderbewust en genderinclusief communiceren. Ook jij kan daarmee aan de slag en zo draag je actief bij tot een inclusievere maatschappij.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018Dames\u2019 en \u2018heren\u2019, \u2018hem\u2019 en \u2018haar\u2019, onze Nederlandse taal weerspiegelt nog steeds de heersende hetero- en gendernorm. Ook op basis van iemands kledij, kapsel, naam of stem veronderstellen we meteen welke&nbsp;genderidentiteit&nbsp;of&nbsp;seksuele ori\u00ebntatie&nbsp;die persoon&nbsp;heeft. Maar naast de binaire gendercategorie\u00ebn \u2018man\u2019 of \u2018vrouw\u2019, zijn er heel wat mensen die zich hier niet in thuis voelen en die zich beter voelen bij een andere,&nbsp;non-binaire&nbsp;genderidentiteit. Die personen&nbsp;zijn&nbsp;taalkundig onzichtbaar, wat ook hun maatschappelijke onzichtbaarheid&nbsp;versterkt.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wanneer we een persoon &#8211; onbewust, door een foute inschatting, of bewust &#8211; foutief aanspreken,&nbsp;misgenderen&nbsp;we die persoon.&nbsp;In het bijzonder voor&nbsp;non-binaire en&nbsp;transpersonen&nbsp;gebeurt dit vaker.&nbsp;Voor sommigen maakt dit weinig uit, voor anderen is het een pijnlijke ervaring. Om ervoor te zorgen dat iedereen zich gezien voelt voor wie hij\/zij\/die is, is het belangrijk dat we ieders genderidentiteit erkennen. Op <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uantwerpen.be\/communiceer-positief\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">www.uantwerpen.be\/communiceer-positief<\/a> vind je verscheidene <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uantwerpen.be\/nl\/overuantwerpen\/organisatie\/missie-en-visie\/diversiteit\/thema-s\/lgbtq\/genderinclusieve-communicatie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">infofiches<\/a> die jou op weg helpen om genderinclusief te communiceren. Je leest er meer over:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-list\"><li>Het gebruik van voornaamwoorden in je (e-mail)handtekening<\/li><li>Genderinclusieve aansprekingen<\/li><li>Genderinclusieve formulieren<\/li><li>Genderinclusieve teksten<\/li><li>Het meten van genderidentiteit in kwantitatief onderzoek<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Je zal merken dat zelfs een taal als het Nederlands, schijnbaar in de greep van een tweeledig (gender)idee, relatief makkelijk aan te passen is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Whatever<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Om dit initiatief extra in de kijker te zetten, werkten Team Diversiteit en het LGBTQ+ netwerk naast de infofiches ook een visuele campagne uit op de campus. Campusdichter Esohe Weyden schreef het gedicht \u2018Gewichtigheid\u2019 dat je terugvindt aan onze bibliotheken. Studenten en medewerkers werden uitgenodigd hun creatieve bijdrage te delen op de ramen errond. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Daarnaast maakten we met de affiches \u2018Whatever, just wash your hands\u2019 duidelijk dat onze toiletten er voor iedereen zijn.
