Topics such as artificial intelligence (AI) and sustainability took centre stage alongside the University Fund. And possibly the most important question: who are the winners of the quiz?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uantwerpen.be\/en\/staff\/celine-kuysters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">C\u00e9line Kuysters<\/a> (FBE) talked to Rector <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uantwerpen.be\/nl\/personeel\/herwig-leirs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Herwig Leirs<\/a> about his new year resolutions and the uncertainties 2026 holds. This included how the university must remain agile and flexible in a rapidly changing world. With the <a href=\"https:\/\/pintra.uantwerpen.be\/webapps\/ua-pintrasite-BBLEARN\/module\/index.jsp?course_id=_202_1&amp;l=en_us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Future Builders Project<\/a>, the university is today already taking practical steps towards the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Nieuwjaarsdrink 2026\" width=\"525\" height=\"295\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/e2kVWtz8ObM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:27px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The benefits and challenges of AI<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2025, the <a href=\"https:\/\/pintra.uantwerpen.be\/webapps\/ua-pintrasite-BBLEARN\/module\/index.jsp?course_id=_200_1&amp;l=en_us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AI Info Centre<\/a> was launched. AI Officer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uantwerpen.be\/en\/staff\/koen-pepermans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Koen Peper<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uantwerpen.be\/en\/staff\/koen-pepermans\/\">mans<\/a> shared his insights on the opportunities and challenges of AI. Both large and small donations can truly make a difference to our research, our education and our students.
