During the summer, our buildings become quiet. Or so we think… While many of us are enjoying a well-deserved holiday and most students are not thinking about their studies for a while (unless they have resits), not everyone is sitting still. There is still a lot going on at the University of Antwerp in July and August.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The summer period begins and ends with Antwerp Summer University<\/a>. Students and interested parties from all over the world attend one or more of our 25 summer schools. For the fourteenth time, the International Relations Office provides a varied selection<\/a>: from responsible fashion management and social urban planning, to animal law and a summer school on vaccination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Linguapolis \u2013 UAntwerp\u2019s language institute \u2013 organises language immersion courses for Dutch, French and Spanish in July. Perfect for those who want to better master one of those languages. In September and October new series of language courses<\/a> will start.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Preparing buildings for the future<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The management of our buildings does not stop either. Here\u2019s a short overview of the works scheduled: Stadscampus Building S.R will get a new central heating system, the PC classrooms in Scribani will be renovated, the porter\u2019s lodge is in need of some renovations, and the organ in the Grauwzusters cloister will also be fixed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UAntwerp endorses the fight for equality for the LGBTQIA+ community and, as in past years, proudly joins the Antwerp Pride.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

At Campus Groenenborger, the construction of the new lab building is still ongoing and at Campus Middelheim the control of the boilers in Building M.G is being adjusted. In addition to the continued construction of a new sports hall, student restaurant and student accommodation<\/a>, the old ventilation ducts in Building D.T at Campus Drie Eiken are being removed this summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Discover a new spot<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Do you always work on a particular campus? Then summer might be the time to explore another campus or the surroundings of your own campus. For example, did you know that Campus Middelheim and Campus Groenenborger are adjacent to the beautiful Middelheim Park? The perfect spot for an afternoon break.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the Stadscampus, a walk around het Eindlandje (the Island) is a nice afternoon break, or you can take a look at the renovated Paardenmarkt area<\/a>. Those who prefer to seek out nature can look for the city shepherd and his flock of sheep on our green Campus Drie Eiken. They will come by again on X to mow the grass of the car parks and meadows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also open to prospective students<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The student registration period for the 2023\u20132024 academic year starts on 1 July. Newly enrolled students find their way to campus even before the start of the academic year with the U stArt Orientation Days<\/a>, the Welcome Week<\/a> for international students and a lot of preparatory courses and information sessions. This makes sure they\u2019re all set before their new adventure at the University of Antwerp really begins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Summer might be the time to explore another campus or the surroundings of your own campus. During your lunch break, for example, take a look at Middelheim Park or take a walk around het Eilandje.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Students who are unsure about choosing a programme can find online info (in Dutch) at UAntwerp during the entire summer<\/a> to help them decide what programme to enrol for. From online speed-meets with current students to online info sessions and classes. Another open day<\/a> on campus will take place on 2 September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Antwerp Pride with UAntwerp<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On Saturday 12 August, Antwerp Pride kicks off at the Paardenmarkt. For the sixteenth time, Antwerp reflects on equal opportunities for the LGBTQIA+ community. The central theme for 2023 is \u2018Braveolution\u2019, aiming to make all of Antwerp a \u2018brave space\u2019 for the LGBTQIA+ community. UAntwerp, too, endorses this fight for equality and, as in past years, proudly joins the parade. Be sure to come celebrate with us on our float.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

You see, life at UAntwerp is anything but quiet during the summer. And of course we forgot to mention a lot of things, such as all the scientific research that is still happening. Enjoy the summer break and mark September 28 in your diary for the official opening of the 2023\u20132024 academic year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
