Christian Hirt currently holds the position of a senior lecturer at the Department of Human Resource Management of the University of Graz, Austria. He graduated from the same university with a PhD in Social Sciences and Economics and his dissertation dealt with trends of change in Japanese personnel management. He has work experience as an executive assistant and office manager and as a shareholder in a business start-up and food export with main focus on Japan. Furthermore, his experience includes working as an assistant professor at the Institute of International Management of the University of Graz and as a coordinator for International Relations in Kobayashi/Japan in the context of the JET programme – “The Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme”. Additionally, Christian has participated in and managed several international projects and has been a trainer for cross-cultural cooperation and communication in the private sector. He has years of experience as an academic advisor for incoming students at the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences, where he also acts as the faculty-wide contact person for the central International Relations Office in matters relating to international cooperation. He was also a member of the advisory board for international relations at the University of Graz. In his current position, Christian gives lectures on general management, human resource management, cross-cultural management, management of complex systems and globalization. His main research interests and publications focus on international human resource management and cross-cultural topics.
