Hier ziet u ze, de professoren van de toenmalige Rijkshandelshogeschool. Op een foto uit 1902 staan de toenmalige professoren en enkele echtgenotes voor het Koninklijk Museum voor Schone Kunsten, te Antwerpen.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wie waren die professoren? Goede vraag. Identiteiten zijn moeilijk toe te wijzen. Twee dingen zijn zeker: dat het gaat om een groep witte mannen die in die tijd het privilege hadden om les te geven en dat ze een belangrijke rol opnamen bij een van de oudste voorgangers van de Universiteit Antwerpen. De Rijkshandelshogeschool werd in 1852 opgericht, samen met het Sint-Ignatius Instituut. Hiermee werd voldaan aan de groeiende behoefte aan geschoold personeel voor de handel in de Antwerpse haven. Deze handelsscholen, met de nadruk op bedrijfskunde en verwante gebieden, droegen ertoe bij dat Antwerpen een wereldcentrum voor handel en cultuur werd.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"138\" height=\"150\" data-id=\"4513\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.uantwerpen.be\/collectief-geheugen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/00002-06.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4513\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"199\" height=\"245\" data-id=\"4511\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.uantwerpen.be\/collectief-geheugen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/00002-04.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4511\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"187\" height=\"213\" data-id=\"4512\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.uantwerpen.be\/collectief-geheugen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/00002-05.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4512\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>De Universiteit Antwerpen is duidelijk ge\u00ebvolueerd, zoals blijkt uit deze foto. Ongelooflijk dat toen alle docenten er volledig hetzelfde uitzagen, niet? Het onderwijs blijft evolueren en wordt steeds diverser. Zoals de Rijkshandelshogeschool in de behoefte aan geschoolde mensen voorzag, doet de UAntwerpen dat vandaag ook met een steeds gevarieerder studieaanbod. Conservatie-restauratie, literatuur, geschiedenis &#8230; de lijst met beschikbare richtingen aan de UAntwerpen wordt steeds maar aangevuld.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Niet alleen het onderwijs zelf is letterlijk diverser geworden, maar ook de professoren. Mannen en vrouwen van alle leeftijden, etniciteiten en achtergronden geven nu les aan de universiteit.
